HRIST LIBRARY OBJECTIVES

To act as facilitator for the provision of most up to date education, training, research and extension activities for human resource development. To act as an active part of Higher Education System of the University through effective acquisition and dissemination of latest knowledge/information to its students and staff members. To uplift the standard of the library and its services through internal and external sources.

LIBRARY TIMING

THE HRIST LIBRARY REMAINS OPEN AS FOLLOWING SCHEDULE. MON TO SAT ; 9AM TO 5 PM The library timings can be changed by the approval of the competent authority on the recommendations of institute library committee. The librarian will notify the library timings.

HRIST LIBRARY RULES & POLICIES

HRIST Library is a house of knowledge and provides the reading material to its patrons. All faculty members, staff and students are entitled to become members of the library and avail library facilities.

General Rules:

Library is a study place, therefore, please observe silence. Leave your personal belongings such as handbags, briefcases, etc. outside the library entrance, on your own responsibility. Eating, drinking, and smoking are absolutely prohibited inside the library. Do not write, underline or mark any book. Library books are carefully examined on return and the borrower will be held responsible for the damage. Leave the library materials on tables after consulting/reading. Using mobile phones inside the library is strictly prohibited. Keep your mobile phone switched off or silent within the library premises. Remove your personal items; papers, bottles and other things before leaving the library. Do not leave your reading materials and notebooks in the library. Group Discussion is not allowed. Do not change the order of library furniture and other material. Please use each and every object inside the library with care. Ask for help from library staff if you are unable to find your required material. Library users are requested to cooperate with library staff and follow library rules. Library privileges may be denied to those who violate its rules.

Membership:

Anyone using the library must be registered as a user. Before being able to borrow books from Library you will need to get its membership. Students, staff are faculty members are entitled for library membership. The faculty and staff members are required to fill a library membership form and submit it at the circulation desk in the library. Library membership forms are available from library circulation desk or help desk. Get membership form with card. Kindly fill-up the membership form and submit it on the Circulation Desk. Please remember to complete all required information including the contact and e-mail address. So that you may be informed of the activation of your membership as well as the borrowing rights. Please attach the followings with this form; One copy of your Institute ID card. One copy of Employee’s employee ID card. Two recent passport size photographs with blue background. After getting the Library membership you can borrow the books and avail the library services. A borrower, who loses his/her card, shall at once inform the Librarian in written form. A duplicate card will be issued on payment of a fee of Rs. 100/- Library borrower cards are valid for the entire duration of the course to access library facilities.

Borrowing/Circulation Policy:

Library borrowers shall need a library membership card for borrowing library materials. The library membership card holder shall be responsible for all material borrowed on his/her card. A card known as the Borrower’s card, will be issued to each person to draw books from the Library. Such card shall be strictly “non-transferable” and have to be presented at the counter at the time of drawing or returning the books etc. Borrowing rights vary according to the users’ categories and the types of material being borrowed. Library will be opened to members of the following categories: Categories No. of Books Issued Duration of Issuance Students BS/MSC 3 14 Days Faculty 5 One Month Non-Teaching Staff 2 14 Days Books can be renewed for another loan period and books can be renewed or reissued both from circulation desk with in due date. Overdue books will not be reissued until the fine is paid. Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Periodicals and other reference materials shall not be loaned out of the library as per rule. Non-circulating materials can only be used within library premises. It will be compulsory for all graduate students to get library clearance for the issuance of Transcript/Degree Certificate.

Library Fines Policy:

To encourage timely return of library materials and to provide optimal sharing of the collections, fines are charged for overdue items. Borrowers are responsible for returning or renewing items by the due date. If items are not returned within the due date, fines will be charged from the first overdue day, at the following rates. Overdue general books; Rs.10/- per day/per volume will be charged if the books are not returned on the due date. Course Reserve: This material is issued for three hours only. If the material is not returned within the allocated time, a fine of Rs.50/- for each extra hour will be charged. If a loaned book is damaged (i.e. cover loose or removed pages or loose pages etc.) the responsible user will be charged for the cost of the book. In case of loss, the user will be charged two times the current price of the item on current edition. If the edition is five years old then students will be charged three times the current price of the item plus the processing charges. To avoid the fine student can provide a replacement copy to the library, another copy of item may be accepted, if it will be original with the same ISBN. In case of Library membership card loss, the user will be charged Rs:100/- with application for new membership.

Disciplinary Fines:

The Library Committee has approved fine for those students who violate the library code of conduct for maintaining silence and discipline in the library. Rs.200/- is charged on first time violation and Rs.500/- on second time violation. If a patron continues the violation, the case could be referred to the Director HRIST. Note: The Library and Senior Management Team shall have power to modify the Rules.

Acquisition and Technical Section This Section is working as a back bone of Institute Library to fulfill ever increasing information needs of our users as per purposely defined “Collection Development” and “Technical operation” policies. Balanced acquisition, quick technical processing proper dissemination, automation and imparting searching/I.C.T skills to the users are major functions of this section.

REFERENCE SECTION

THIS SECTION COMPRISES MORE THEN 1000 REFERENCE BOOKS. ps, Indices and all the research reports submitted by research scholars of this University are also available in this section. The use of the reference material is only restricted for study inside the Library.
